Kronplatz will be the home of the 6th Messner Mountain Museum (MMM). Mountain Kronplatz lies on the fault line between the three cultures of South Tyrol - the Ladin, Italian and German-speaking populations. This unique position of Mountain Kronplatz was decisive for the extreme mountaineer and author Reinhold Messner's latest project: building the 6th and last MMM on 2.275m. The central topic of this museum will be “rock” and will be dedicated to the lives of mountaineers and climbers.
The museum should be ready to open by July 2014, and in order to alter the landscape as little as possible, most of its components will be underground.
